Entertainment Alternatives in Pittsburgh, PA

Among the professional music venues, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra performs in Heinz Hall, and the Pittsburgh Opera performs in the Benedum Center. Both the Benedum Center and Heinz Hall provide venues for other groups, such as the River City Brass Band and the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra. Pittsburgh also has a long tradition of jazz, blues and blue grass music; as well as a large indie and punk rock following.

Museums in the area include the Andy Warhole Museum, the Carnegie Museum of Art and the Frick Art & Historical Center. Installation of art is featured outdoors at ArtGardens of Pittsburgh. The Carnegie Museum of Natural History has an extensive dinosaur and Ancient Egypt exhibit. The Carnegie Science Center is technology oriented.

There are also a variety of parks where you can play golf, tennis, have a picnic, ski, water-oriented fun, or just have a simple walk through nature.

You can also participate in the many festivals that take place in the city. Some of these festivals include Ligonier Highland Games, Pittsburgh Dragon Boat Festival, Silk Screen - Asian-American Film Festival, Three Rivers Arts Festival, and many others.
